This year marked the nineteenth year of production for the Gold Eagle series. In 2005 the United States mint struck only 300,043 one-tenth oz Gold American Eagles and less than 3% of the coins struck received the perfect grade of MS70. This is a beautiful example of a 2005 $5 Gold Eagle. The detail, strike, and luster on this piece are absolutely pristine. The intricate detail and clarity combined with the amazing luster will make this flawless Gold Eagle appealing to both collectors and investors.

Following the US Mint’s all-time high mintage records reached in the prior year, the mintages for 2000 Gold Eagles declined significantly for every denomination. The mainstream public felt the Y2K crisis had passed and interest in precious metals declined from the panic-buying levels that reached ahead of the new millennium. The biggest decline occurred for the 1/10 oz. Gold Eagle, which saw its mintage fall by roughly 80%. With this decline, only 7,000 pieces were given the perfect 70 grade by NGC. This piece features an immaculate finish with a razor-sharp design and is deserving of its perfect 70 grade.

In 1998 the world saw a dramatic increase in gold bullion sales, and it began with the 1998 Gold Eagle and would continue into the following year. The increased demand was driven by uncertainty surrounding the approach of Y2K, which caused a renewed interest in precious metals. The mintage for the one-tenth-ounce Gold Eagle bullion coin reached the highest annual and strong demand with over 1.3 million coins minted sold. Even with a strong total mintage, these pieces are rather scarce in Mint State 70 as only 2,030 pieces have received the perfect grade by NGC. This is an integral coin to any collection, and it is flawlessly struck with strong eye appeal.

In 1997 we saw the U.S Mint expand its offering with the new Platinum Eagle. This introduction of this new piece was expected to slow the demand for Gold Eagles, but we saw the opposite effect. The sales and production of the one-tenth-ounce Gold Eagles hit a ten-year high with over 528,000 pieced produced. Even though we saw a 30% increase in the yearly production, only 143 pieces have been graded perfect 70 by PCGS. This flawless struck piece features sharp details on the obverse and reverse and the luster is pleasing to the eye. This is a key date to any collection.

The 1996 Gold Eagle series followed the tenth anniversary of the series in the prior year. Mintages slowed for the larger denominations, however, the sales and corresponding mintage for the one-tenth-ounce Gold Eagles showed an unusual increase, with nearly twice the number of coins sold compared to the prior year. The U.S Mint produced over 400,000 one-tenth-ounce pieces. Even with this large mintage, they are still scarce in perfect 70 with only 616 pieces in the NGC population. Early year Gold Eagles are sought after by investors and collectors. If you are building a one-tenth-ounce collection, be sure to add this to your portfolio. This piece features a razor-sharp design and beautiful original luster.

1994 tends to be a key date in the Gold Eagles series across all denominations because the U.S Mint produces lesser amount of each size. The U.S Mint produces a near-record low of just over 206,000 tenth-ounce Gold Eagles and only 421 pieces have been awarded perfect 70 my NGC. Investors and collectors seek out these pieces as it is a key date in the series and must add to any collection. This piece features well-struck elements on both sides and has a beautiful lemon-like luster. If you are looking to complete your collection, look no further than this exquisite piece.

When considering early year Gold Eagles, many investors and collectors strive to acquire the pieces with very low populations such as this 1991 $50 piece. Notably, this year represented the final year that the date included on the obverse of the American Gold Eagle would be expressed in Roman numerals. In subsequent years, the date would be shown in Arabic numerals. If you are looking to complete your roman numeral collection or complete your whole collection this pristine piece should be in your portfolio. This exquisite piece features a pristine field with razor-sharp devices. The details are incredibly crisp and well defined for a coin from 1991. There were just over 243,000 pieces produced by the US Mint which was a record low for the time and only 64 pieces have achieved the perfect Mint State 70 grade by PCGS.

Have you been looking for a coin that is part of a limited series? The Burnished Platinum Eagle series will fill that void. Burnished Uncirculated eagles are struck using specially burnished blanks which results in a satin-like finish. Burnished coins are smooth to the touch and display striking detail. Note that the U.S. Mint does not use the term burnished. Instead, the mint refers to these coins simply as uncirculated. It is the numismatic community that continues to use the term burnished in reference to coins produced through the special minting process. These special burnished coins also bear the "W" mint mark on the reverse of the coin and also features the unique annual designs typically only used on the reverse of proof platinum eagle coins. The 2007-W one-tenth ounce had a total mintage of 5,556 pieces and only 494 coins have received the perfect grade of MS70 by NGC. This is a great limited production piece to add to your collection.

Silver American Eagles have been produced by the U.S Mint since 1986. The obverse design is struck with the image of Lady Liberty designed by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the 1916 half dollar. A coin can only receive the First Strike designation if it has been received by the grading service withing 30 days of production by the mint. Are you looking for a piece that is so beautiful it will stop people in their tracks? Then look no further than this beautiful piece that pays homage to famed U.S Mint Engraver, Augustus Saint Gaudens. To recreate this masterpiece, the mint used the original plaster models for the coins that were hand-sculpted by Saint-Gaudens himself. Upon its release, these coins sold out quickly at the Mint. Only 115,178 coins were minted and less than 9% of these coins have achieved the perfect Mint State 70 grade by NGC. The first coin struck was sent to the Smithsonian Museum for safekeeping and the U.S Mint kept one to add to its collection. At first glance, you will notice how deep and beautiful the high relief detail is on this piece which is achieved by 4mm thick planchets being struck twice with 65 metric tons of pressure. This is one of those truly exquisite pieces that deserve a place in your collection.
